A source told the New York Daily News that Jessica Simpson’s father may have been spying on her husband, Nick Lachey, during their seven-month separation. Before the marriage officially ended June 30, Joe Simpson reportedly called a nightclub where Lachey, his soon-to-be girlfriend, Vanessa Minnillo, and Jessica’s friend and former assistant CaCee Cobb all were visiting. “Joe called the club people after hearing Nick was there and demanded to see the security videotape,” an insider told the Daily News. The club refused to cooperate. The source added: “Joe was looking to incriminate Nick. He told the club, ‘If you ever want to see my daughter there, you’ll give me what I want.”‘ A Simpson rep denied the source’s claim.
