Who: Jeremy Sandstrom, Katie Trigg, Natalie Sandstrom, Jordan and Jennifer Trigg, all of Centennial
Where: Nuevo Vallarta, just north of Puerto Vallarta
Best meal: Boca Bento located in the romantic zone – Basilio Badillo 180. The restaurant is Latin/Asian fusion with tapa-sized portions, perfect for sampling a little bit of everything. The service was excellent. We arrived with five children, and the owner offered to make up something special for them, fearing that the menu was too adventurous. We declined the generous offer – the kids loved the chicken satay, ribs and shrimp. This restaurant is beautiful, warm and inviting, decorated to be calm and welcoming. It is a bit pricey but well worth it for a special night out.
Best deal: Having braids done on the beach. It took four hours to do four girls at $18 each. The kids loved having it done. Benefit for parents – no hair combing nor tangles to battle for the entire vacation. (Back home tip: a little spray detangler on the ends helps with the unbraiding.)
Best time to go: After the Christmas/New Year holiday and before spring break to avoid some of the holiday crowds.
Best travel tip: This time we tried an all-inclusive resort. The all-inclusive is great for families. A kids club, kids pool, boogie boards, tennis, bicycles, golf and more. Best of all, no need to dig out money every time one of the kids was thirsty or hungry!
