Alain Ducasse opens food-lover’s spa in L’Andana, a Maremma inn

World-renowned chef Alain Ducasse long ago added hotelier to his résumé, and his inn, L’Andana, has become a popular destination for those in the know staying in the Maremma region of Castiglione della Pescaia, Tuscany. Recently Ducasse added a spa to the property, a former hunting lodge belonging to the Duke of Tuscany. The spa fits right in with Ducasse’s

philosophy: Treatments are complemented by finger foods and desserts, the ultimate in indulgence. Rates start at $409 per night during low season. L’Andana, Tenuta La Badiola, 011-39-0564-944-800 or andanahotel.com

Elvis has left the living, but celebrate his “death week” at special events

The King officially left the building Aug. 16, 1977, and annually during the week surrounding that occasion some 30,000 people make the pilgrimage to Graceland and the area to pay homage, called “death week” by locals but really known as Elvis Week (Aug. 8-16). Have a peanut butter and banana sandwich at one of the cafes, then check out the dance parties, 5K runs, wine auctions, scavenger hunt – you name it, it happens in the King’s name that week.
