Five individuals and the national champion 1967-68 hockey team make up the University of Denver Athletic Hall of Fame class of 2006, the school announced Thursday.
Those being honored are tennis player and coach Clayton Benham (posthumously); hockey goalie George Kirkwood; John Terje Overland of Norway, an alpine skier from 1965-67; Michaela “Misa” Pavlickova, a women’s basketball standout from 1998-2001; and hockey fan Harold Beier, who received the “special inductee” honor.
Broomfield’s Ziegler ousted from Jr. Amateur
Steve Ziegler of Broomfield lost in the third round of the U.S. Junior Amateur at Rancho Santa Fe (Calif.) Golf Club. Ziegler lost to William Miller Cauley of Jacksonville, Fla., 3 and 1.
Kayley Kempton of Englewood Golf Course won her second straight Colorado Women’s Golf Association Junior Match Play Championship, defeating Elizabeth Kresock of Pinehurst C.C. 3 and 2.
