DON’T-MISS TV|Jugglers and warblers or toe-kickers and flippers? One thing’s certain: Nobody’s picking ABC’s “The One: Making a Music Star,” which bombed in the ratings, trailing broadcast and cable networks to an eighth-place finish.| Joanne Ostrow

GADGET|Toshiba’s Gigabeat S series looks like a bona fide iPod challenger. The supercompact 30GB or 60GB portable video player supports many music, video, and photo file types, including subscription services, and it has a bevy of features. The device is completely intuitive, thanks in part to an improved Portable Media Center operating system. Unlike many portable video players, however, the it does not record audio or video, and requires Windows XP. Also, rated battery life for video is shorter than Toshiba had originally suggested. $379-$399|CNET.com
