A teacher at a residential juvenile treatment center has been arrested for investigation of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old student at the facility, officials say.
Michelle Leigh Tolar, 26, is being investigated for sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and sexual assault, said Steve Davis, spokesman for the Lakewood Police Department.
Detectives made the arrest Wednesday afternoon after interviewing Tolar, Davis said.
The detectives had been told that Tolar was having a sexual relationship with one of her students at Jefferson Hills Residential Treatment Center, Davis said.
The facility houses juveniles that have been placed by court order.
Tolar has been a teacher at the facility for approximately two years, Davis said.
The case will be presented to the Jefferson County District Attorney for possible formal charges.
The name of the juvenile was not released because he is considered a sexual assault victim.
