The Colorado Rush under-19 girls team defeated Eclipse Select (Ill.) 3-2 to win the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships on Sunday in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Rush took a 3-0 lead at halftime after scores from Amanda Lathrop, Ameera Adbullah and Sarah Wagenfuhr. Lathrop and goalkeeper Jamie Scarcliff were voted the most valuable players.
In the under-16 girls division, Real Colorado National won a national championship, defeating Edmond SC 90 Black (Okla.) 3-2.
Jennifer Kmezich scored twice to lead Real, and she and goalkeeper Christina Palomino earned the most valuable player awards.
Regis High diver Moore fourth at nationals
Sean Moore, a senior at Regis High School, finished fourth in the boys 16-18 platform diving competition at the Junior National Diving Championships in Indianapolis.
Moore, competing for the Mile High Dive Club, scored 467.10 points, trailing winner JJ Kinsbach of The Woodlands, Texas, (550.65).
Moore also finished eighth in the 3-meter springboard competition and will dive in the Senior National Championships in Indianapolis beginning Wednesday.
