U.S. Rep. Mark Udall today endorsed Ed Perlmutter in his bid for for a congressional seat.
“I feel very strongly about Ed’s competence and experience,” Udall of Eldorado Springs said. “Ed will serve us well and serve us with distinction.”
Udall said he had decided to make an endorsement in the Democratic primary for the 7th congressional district seat because he believed Perlmutter was the candidate who would do the most to make America independent of foreign energy sources.
He cited Perlmutter’s work as a trustee of the Midwest Research Institute, which runs the National Renewable Energy Lab in Golden.
Perlmutter, a former state senator, is locked in a tight primary race with former state representative Peggy Lamm and Ed Rubenstein, an adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at Colorado State University. The winner of the Aug. 8 primary will face the Republican Rick O’Donnell, former director of the state Commission on Higher Education.
