Galaxy Energy Corp., a Denver-based energy company, announced Tuesday it has agreed to sell its unconventional natural-gas properties in the Piceance Basin to Exxel Energy Corp.

Exxel’s wholly owned subsidiary, Exxel Energy USA Inc., will pay $50 million to acquire Galaxy’s 25 percent working interest in the Garfield County project.

Exxel USA owns the other 75 percent working interest.
