Els to play at The International

Ernie Els joined the field for The International at Castle Pines, making his 15th appearance in the tournament. The 2000 champion, Els is the event’s top career points leader with 344, and money earner at $1.66 million. Els was unable to compete at Castle Pines last year because of a knee injury.

Also joining the competition are Greg Norman, who won in 1989; Tom Lehman; 2001 champion Tom Pernice Jr., Doug Barron, Robert Damron, Zach Johnson, Pat Perez, John Rollins, Bo Van Pelt and Kane Webber.

Mammoth’s Catton given franchise tag

Rich Catton was made a franchise player by the Colorado Mammoth, which keeps him from becoming an unrestricted free agent. Catton had six assists and one goal, picking up 68 loose balls in 16 regular games last season, and had two assists and 15 loose balls in the playoffs.
