Pole-dancing can be painful. Just ask Kate Hudson. According to bangshowbiz.com, the actress and daughter of Goldie Hawn pulled a leg muscle and suffered a friction burn on her arm. Hudson has said she regularly pole-dances to stay fit and keep her husband Black Crowes rocker Chris Robinson happy. Hudson once said, “I don’t want to do it too often. It’s one of those things that happens if it’s his lucky night! But it’s also very grueling physical exercise.”

Kylie Minogue always has been a taskmaster when it comes to workouts. But the Australian singer recovering from breast cancer is spending up to six hours a day rehearsing exhausting dance routines. Minogue told the Daily Mirror in London: “You know, my energy’s coming back now. I am so revved up. I can’t wait to get back to my day job.” Minogue, 38, had to postpone the Australian leg of her world tour in May 2005 after being diagnosed with breast cancer. The new tour is scheduled to resume in Australia in November.

Lindsay Lohan’s training for her film, “Georgia Rules,” has included a boxing workout with a personal trainer. Hello! magazine caught the actress donning red boxing gloves while wearing a bikini. Of course, Lohan is squeezing the workout routine between her late-night partying and fainting spells (Lohan’s mother blames it on the heat and her asthma).

Former Sen. John Edwards wanted to have a meeting with Russell Simmons so much he let the hip-hop mogul drag him to his regular 6:15 p.m. class at the Jivamukti Yoga School. “He was a yoga virgin,” Simmons told the New York Daily News’ Lloyd Grove recently. “The entire practice, he was sweating. The guy runs 5 miles a day, but I promise you he is in pain today. At one point, I looked over at him, and he looked like he was going to die.” Edwards accompanied Simmons, former NAACP boss Ben Chavez and activist Glen Friedman to dinner in an effort to court the African-American vote for the 2008 presidential campaign.
