AFA women’s soccer adds 11 freshmen

The Air Force Academy women’s soccer team added 11 freshmen, including two Denver-area players, to its roster in preparation for its season-opening exhibition with Denver on Aug. 18, coach Marty Buckley said.

Caitlin Lynch, a graduate of Smoky Hill in Aurora, and Kelsey Yip, of Dakota Ridge in Littleton, each four-year letterwinners, will join the Falcons squad.

Martin holds slim lead at CWGA stroke play

Melissa Martin of Bookcliff Country Club shot a second-round 72 for a two-day, 1-under-par 145 to lead the Colorado Women’s Golf Association Junior Stroke Play Championship at City Park Golf Course.

Brooke Collins of Omni Interlocken Golf Club trails by one stroke at 146 after matching Martin with three birdies and an eagle in the second round.
