The Colorado Division of Wildlife will hear public comment on possible changes in deer management in the Gunnison Basin at a 7 p.m., Aug. 21 meeting in the multipurpose building at the Gunnison County Fairgrounds. Possible changes might involve issues relating to total population and buck/doe ratios in game management units 54, 55, 551, 66 and 67. Biologist Brandon Diamond will explain the current population dynamics prior to public comment. A draft management plan will be formed and presented at the November meeting of the Colorado Wildlife Commission. Approval of the statewide big game management framework will be finalized in January.
