The Tucson Sidewinders of the Pacific Coast League posted a four-run fifth inning and cruised to a 6-3 victory over the visiting Colorado Springs Sky Sox on Saturday at Tucson Electric Park.
Tucson’s Micah Owings (8-0, 4.10 ERA) struck out seven for the win and Jon Weber went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI to lead the Southern Division-leading Sidewinders (78-49), an affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Colorado Springs was led by first baseman Carlos Rivera, who doubled in a run for his 66th RBI of the season. Denny Bautista (2-7, 6.79) allowed four runs in 4 1/3 innings for the Sky Sox (56-71), who are at the bottom of the Northern Division standings.
Sunday’s game between the teams was suspended in the second inning by rain.
