SPRINGFIELD, Mass.-
Get ready for the Big E, New England's largest fair, which takes place in Springfield, Mass., Sept. 15-Oct. 1.
The exposition includes exhibits and participation by vendors from six states.
The Big E includes daily Mardi Gras parades, rides and a circus; performances by Carrie Underwood, Lee Ann Womack and other stars; the Miss Latina U.S. Pageant and a character breakfast.
But the fair, which started in 1916, also has old-fashioned favorites like farm animals and other agricultural exhibits.
Unusual events include the construction of a mini-Fenway Park from ordinary playing cards.
The fair's signature cream puffs will also be for sale.
