Beyoncé Knowles and rap mogul Jay-Z are getting married, and the former Destiny’s Child member is planning a $3 million November wedding on the Caribbean island of Anguilla, Star magazine reports. Knowles’ wedding dress will be similar to the one worn by Princess Diana and invited guests include Oprah Winfrey and United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan.
Pete Doherty, the British rocker and on-again, off-again boyfriend of supermodel Kate Moss, punched a nurse and trashed his room in a rehab clinic, the Daily Mirror reported. The Babyshambles singer and crack addict kicked a door and slammed walls with his hands during the tantrum at the Priory clinic Sunday night. A friend told the Mirror: “A nurse was trying to encourage him to get more involved in the therapy sessions when Pete suddenly went berserk. … He said he wanted Kate. Pete’s lucky that the nurse was not hurt.”
Is Broadway’s favorite duo breaking up? The New York Post reports Nathan Lane was making snarky comments about his “Producers” and “Odd Couple” castmate Matthew Broderick. A theater source told the Post, “(Lane) was not happy with Matthew’s lack of effort, and lack of preparation” as Felix in “Odd Couple.” Simon Halls, rep for both stars, denied any bad feelings between the two. “That’s ridiculous,” he said. “They are the best of friends. Somebody’s just trying to stir up trouble.”
Apparently making money is not paramount at least at one movie studio. Sumner Redstone, whose company owns Paramount Pictures, said the studio would sever its 14-year relationship with the film production company Tom Cruise runs with partner Paula Wagner, saying Cruise’s “recent conduct has not been acceptable. As much as we like him personally, we thought it was wrong to renew his deal.” Each of Cruise’s past seven films has generated more than $100 million. Collaborations on films with Cruise/Wagner Productions, based on the Paramount lot since 1992, have earned $2.5 billion, Wagner claimed. Paramount apparently could take only so much couch-jumping, Scientology preaching and criticism of new mothers like Brooke Shields.
Jessica Simpson, according to Us Weekly, approached Britney Spears backstage at the Teen Choice Awards and asked if she could kiss Spears’ pregnant belly. “(Heck), no!” reportedly was Spears’ retort. A witness said, “Jessica was really insulted, but Britney refused to let her do it.” Jessica should have asked to kiss Kevin Federline instead?
Paris Hilton, quoted by the London Independent, said she weeds out friends with a fashion test. “I’ll pick out two outfits, one which is disgusting and one nice, and I’ll ask my ‘friend’ what they think,” the heiress said. “If they go for the revolting one, I cut them out of my life.” Maybe Hilton’s friends should do the same, but with music CDs, one by Hilton and one by a real singer. Ouch!
Brittany Murphy is a single woman again. A rep admitted to E! Online, “Brittany Murphy and Joe Macaluso have amicably ended their engagement. Murphy, 28, met Macaluso, a best boy grip, on the set of the 2004 romantic comedy “Little Black Book.”
Brandon Routh’s rep admitted to People magazine that the “Superman” star is engaged to actress Courtney Ford. The couple have dated for three years.
