
Brendan Mundorf scored four goals in the second quarter and the Denver Outlaws held Major League Lacrosse most valuable player Ryan Powell to one goal in a 23-14 win over the San Francisco Dragons in the semifinals of the MLL playoffs in Carson, Calif.
The Outlaws advance to Sunday’s championship game, where they will play the winner of Friday’s second semifinal game between Boston and Philadelphia.
The Outlaws got on the scoreboard first with a two-point goal from Jeff Sonke and were up 5-0 before Xander Ritz scored for the Dragons.
San Francisco scored the first goal of the second quarter before Mundorf scored three straight (two unassisted), followed by a Sonke goal to put the Outlaws up 9-3.
Jeff Zywicki added four goals for Denver, and Matt Brown had three.
