Looking for an undiscovered beach?
The September-October issue of Islands magazines lists 30 of the best undiscovered beaches around the world.
The magazine editors looked for beautiful scenery, whether it's easy to swim there, and overall appeal in putting the list together.
The list includes several domestic beaches that aren't that hard to get to–Okracoke Beach on North Carolina's Outer Banks, and Caladesi Island, off Clearwater, Fla., on the Gulf of Mexico. In Hawaii, the beaches list includes Kaihalulu Beach, Maui, and Mahaulepu Beach, Kauai.
Farther away, in the Pacific, Islands magazine recommends Eight Month Beach, Yasawa Island, Fiji; Ofu Beach in the Mauna Islands, American Samoa; Oro Bay, Ile des Pins, New Caledonia; One Foot Island, Aitutaki, Cook Islands; Motu Tapare, Tikehua, Tumaotu Archipelago, Tahiti; Honeymoon Beach, Rock Islands, Palau; and Leekes Beach, Great Keppel Island, Australia.
In Asia, best undiscovered beaches are Bai Kem, Phu Quoc, Vietnam; Secret Beach, Matinloc Island, Palawan, Philippines; Pasir Besar, Lang Tengah Island, Malaysia; Natuna Besar, Natuna Islands, Indonesia; and Baan Mai Beach, Ko Lon, Thailand.
In the Caribbean, the list consists of Playa Rincon, Samana, Dominican Republic; Savannah Bay, Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands; Back Bay, Tobago; Dropsey Bay, Anguilla; Greenwood Beach, Cat Islands, Bahamas; and Jamesby Island, Tobago Cays, St. Vincent & the Grenadines.
Four beaches in Europe made the list: Karpas Beach in North Cyprus; Porat Beach on Bisevo Island, Croatia; Rabbit Beach, Lampedusa, Italy; and Sarakiniko Beach, Milos, Greece.
Finally, Indian Ocean beaches on the list were Anse Georgette, Praslin Island, Seychelles; South Point Beach, Ilha Benguerua, Mozambique; Medjumbe Island, Quirimbas, Archipelago, Mozambique; and Bangaram Island, Lakshadweep Islands, India.
