Two men were killed this morning when the silver Camaro they were in crossed the median on Interstate-270 in Commerce City and was struck on the side by a Chevy pickup truck, officials say.
The coroner’s office was trying to identify the men, described as being in their 20s or 30s, said Det. Mike Saunders of the Commerce City Police Department.
The eastbound lanes of I-270 remain closed and traffic is snarled on the westbound lanes of the highway, Saunders said.
It is unclear what caused the accident, he said. Investigators would like to speak with anyone who was travelling in the westbound lanes when the Camaro crossed the median, he said.
The driver of the pickup was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Saunders said.
