Alexandra Paul was scheduled to swim 9 1/2 miles in Hawaii on Saturday. Paul was one of 10 swimmers racing across the Maui Channel off the Hawaiian island of Lanai, her publicist said in a news release. Paul, who played Lt. Stephanie Holden on “Baywatch,” said she was ready for the challenge “because I am stronger and more fit at 43 than I was at 33.” Paul has run several marathons, swam a 6-mile race in 2004 and competed in the 1997 Hawaiian Ironman Triathlon, the release said. Let’s see David Hasselhoff do that!
Katharine McPhee, the recent “American Idol” runner-up, is the latest rumored leading candidate to play lead role in the big-screen adaptation of “Wonder Woman,” tmz.com reported. The list of actresses coveting the role is endless, allegedly including Sandra Bullock, Kate Beckinsale, Rebecca Romijn, Jessica Biel and Eliza Dushku. McPhee, tmz reports, will appear on the cover of an upcoming issue of Shape magazine, wearing a bathing suit, so maybe “Wonder Woman” director Josh Whedon can see how she looks in one.
Eminem and Nike are auctioning off a limited-edition series of Air Max sneakers with the rapper’s signature to benefit the Marshall Mathers Foundation and NineMillion.org, an agency dedicated to protecting refugees worldwide. Eight models of the shoe – and only 64 pairs – will be available for bid at Nike stores and via eBay. The four-week auction began Thursday.
Jennifer Aniston reportedly is near a deal to endorse Nike products, according to Life & Style Weekly in Britain. Aniston, an avid runner, the magazine reported, may be the highest-paid celebrity endorsing Nike (has Life & Style not heard of Michael Jordan?). Aniston’s involvement also will include a campaign to “brings focus to cancer research,” including donations to her favorite charities.
