Getting your player ready...

After logging more than 36,000 miles last year in his new van, licensed USA Cycling expert coach Gene Hamilton is ready to park in Colorado for a few weeks. And that’s good news for aspiring local off-road riders. Hamilton, a 10-year mountain bike coach and 12-year pro racer, is holding a women’s skills camp in Denver Friday-Sunday, followed by a mountain bike skills camp open to all recreational riders and cross country racers in Fruita, Sept. 15-17. The camps focus on Hamilton’s core skills of mountain biking: balance, vision, cornering, energy management, riding over obstacles and drops, bike set-up and fun. Each clinic is limited to seven riders, and when it’s all said and done, Hamilton guarantees cross country racers will shave anywhere from two to six minutes an hour off their next race time. Three-day camps cost $399 and reservations must be made three days before the start by calling 970-261-1869 or e-mailing to gene@betterride.net. After moving to Utah for a week, the camps will return to Fruita for three weeks in October.
