Authorities are reviewing charges filed against a Delta man after an 81-year-old woman he allegedly beat last month died.
Mark Grover, 55, has been charged with second-degree assault of an at-risk person and abusing a toxic substance, said Delta Police Chief Rick Bacher.
The woman was beaten Aug. 13 and was taken to a local hospital. Police were called and Grover was named as the suspect, Bacher said.
The woman died Tuesday. The Delta County Coroner’s Office performed an autopsy and reported Thursday night that the cause of death was homicide, Bacher said. “The investigation is in the initial phases,” he said.
Grover remains in custody at the Delta County Detention Facility with bail set at $60,000.
