Owners of consensus top pick Larry Johnson need to watch Trent Green’s health closely during the coming days as the Kansas City Chiefs prepare to come to Denver. If Damon Huard is the starting quarterback for Kansas City on Sunday, the Broncos will feel confident crowding the line of scrimmage with their safeties, until Huard proves he needs to be respected. While this won’t warrant benching L.J., owners might want to temper their expectations.
Don’t put too much emphasis on the statistics put up by the Jets’ aerial attack Sunday. Wait to see whether Chad Pennington and Laveranues Coles can put up solid numbers against a stronger pass defense than the Titans before trading the farm for them. If they aren’t owned in your league yet, though, it would be worth taking a flier on either in case they have returned to their lofty form of the 2002 season.
