Unit 20 elk meeting
The discussion about management of elk in Game Management Unit 20 will continue Sept. 19 with a public meeting in Longmont. The 6:30-8:30 p.m. event will be at the Isaac Walton Building, 18 S. Sunset St. The Division of Wildlife seeks public input in determining herd size and male/female ratio.
DOW spot available
The Colorado Division of Wildlife is entertaining applicants for the job of district wildlife manager, which entails law enforcement, wildlife habitat management and field customer service. Associated information is available at wildlife.state.co.us, and submissions must be received by Sept. 22.
Youth shoot scheduled
Youngsters age 16 and younger may participate in shotgun and archery target training Sept. 23 at the Ramah State Wildlife Area archery range, 4 miles west of Ramah on U.S. 23. The free event will be 9 a.m.-3 p.m. For information, 719-227-5207.
Private land pilot explored
DOW is measuring landowner interest in a proposed 2007 private land-only hunting program in game management unit 63 in the Hotchkiss area. Landowners who would like to explore program potential should contact DOW’s Gunnison office, 970-641-7060.
