A man found shot to death in his front yard early Saturday morning was the fourth person murdered in Denver in five days, authorities say.
Detectives do not have a suspect and are not releasing the name of the latest victim, who was born in 1978, said John White, Denver police spokesman. Police were called to the scene – the 3900 block of Pecos Street – at 2:21 a.m.
Police have no reason to believe the latest killing was linked to any of the others this week, White said.
Early Friday morning, a 20-year-old man was fatally shot in a barrage of gunfire as he sat in his car outside the Bootlegger Liquor store, police say.
Police have not released the name of the victim, but family members identified him as Arthur Maes, 20.
“It’s really sad he had to go so young with a child on the way,” said Donna Castillo, 38, Maes’ sister. “He was a great kid. He was trying to find his way in life.”
In separate incidents, a man and woman were killed Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, White said.
The Saturday killing was the 42nd of 2006, according to White.
