He’s still red, fuzzy and really ticklish, but now Elmo’s laughing fits have him slapping his knee, falling to the floor, rolling over and pounding his arm.


Fisher-Price, a unit of Mattel Inc., has taken the wraps off T.M.X. Elmo. The giggly toy is retailing for about $40 — but is already trading on eBay for in excess of $125.


Elmo is predicted to be a hot holiday seller — although financial advisers and toy enthusiasts caution that there’s no reason for Fisher-Price and Mattel execs to laugh all the way to the bank just yet. Must-have toys — including the original Tickle Me Elmo that debuted in 1996 — are often unexpected winners.
