Site of the week: If you insist on continuing to fool yourself about just how far you’ve been running every morning, stop reading now. If accuracy is your goal, then this website is for you: walkjogrun.net. Type in your ZIP code, and the map-based site allows you to “create a route” by pointing and clicking along the streets you run. It gives you mileage readings by segment and by total route. The site is terrific for breaking out of your daily slog by planning a creative new route to a favorite park and back.
Watch this Web video: My teenage Web video supplier and general death-sports fanatic, William Savoie of Englewood, e-mailed another winner this week in the form of supersurfer Laird Hamilton running away from a very, very big wave. The photography is marvelous, as well, pulling away from Hamilton as the wave mounts and mounts to seemingly impossible heights. Check out the drama at youtube.com/watch?v=1ol7XJJlz9E, and duck.
