Jessica Simpson says making her new film, “Employee of the Month,” helped her get through her marital split with Nick Lachey. She said she even baked to show her appreciation to the cast and crew. “I made cupcakes here and there. I love to bake so I would bring stuff to the set.” Simpson loved her castmates Dane Cook and Dax Shepard, but especially enjoyed filming in New Mexico. “Being in Santa Fe, it’s so relaxing and so peaceful. It was a great getaway for me.”
Former President Bill Clinton did not let a hectic Sept. 11 schedule get in the way of mealtime. Secret Service agents were waiting for half an hour in a garage outside the Washington Hilton hotel for a takeout delivery: stir-fry chicken with broccoli from Meiwah, a D.C. restaurant. “It’s very lean white meat. It’s what he sticks with,” Meiwah owner Larry La told The New York Post. Clinton also ordered crispy fried shredded beef, wonton soup and dumplings.
Donny Osmond is releasing a cookbook, “Dining With Donny,” which will include favorite recipes with family photos. Osmond apparently didn’t have much culinary input, though. A source told British newspaper the Daily Express, “The recipes have actually been created by Donny’s wife, Debbie, and daughter-in-law Melissa.”
There was plenty of bling, but not much Champagne and caviar at last week’s Mobos awards show in London. The Daily Mirror reported British fast-food restaurant Nando’s catered the Mobos (Music of Black Origin), providing 10,000 peri-peri chicken wings and burgers for some of the performers, many British stars, including Corinne Bailey Rae, Akala, Lemar and others. Besides the chicken wings and burgers, guests were offered 2,000 Krispy Kreme doughnuts, Red Bull and 3,000 bottles of water. Organizers even flew in Houston-native Beyoncé’s favorite: Popeyes fried chicken. A source said, “As a Southern girl, she loves her fried chicken, and they are going to make her feel at home.” Only problem: Beyoncé didn’t show and got booed for winning three prizes.
