Andrew Ramsey had a goal and an assist as Air Force beat visiting University of Calgary 4-2 in exhibition hockey Monday. Jay Medenwaldt added a goal and Mike Phillipich and Jeff Hajner each scored power-play goals in the third period for the Falcons. Freshman goalie Andrew Volkening stopped 10-of-12 shots for the win in his debut for the Falcons, who outshot Calgary 49-22.
Air Force opens the regular season against Colorado College on Friday at 7:05 p.m. at the Cadet Ice Arena.
Lobato-Nordling duo takes PGA Pro tourney
Paul Lobato and Chris Nordling won the Colorado PGA Pro Scratch tournament at Meridian Golf Club on Monday, finishing 5-under par. Lobato and Nordling beat Kevin Bolles and Mike Larson of Boulder Country Club by one stroke.
Columbine C.C. wins women’s club team title
Laurie Marvin, Kathy Good, Joan Boyle and Irene Freund of Columbine Country Club won the Colorado Women’s Golf Assocation Club Team Championship at Columbine Country Club. Shooting a 373, they beat the team from West Woods by a stroke, and finished eight ahead of the third-place team from Overland Golf Course.
