BOULDER
A bicyclist died in Boulder on Monday after being hit by a car, police said.
Witnesses told police the bicyclist, Christopher Woodby, 28, of Boulder was stopped in the eastbound left lane on Valmont Road and using his arm to signal a left turn onto northbound 29th Street.
A Nissan Pathfinder traveling the same direction about 7 p.m. struck him from behind, police said.
The driver of the car, Guadalupe Garcia Gutierrez, 34,was arrested on suspicion of careless driving resulting in death, driving a vehicle without a valid driver’s license and driving an uninsured motor vehicle, police said in a news release.
The Boulder Police Department said they believe Garcia Gutierrez is an illegal immigrant.
