BECAUSE YOU ASKED
Q: I participated in the Denver Post Opera during my summers in Denver. I’m now living out of state and was wondering if they still have these performances.
A: During summers from 1934 to 1972, the Denver Post Opera series was performed at Cheesman Park. The free events were discontinued when they became too expensive.

Q: Could you tell me the name of the family/ owners of the Famous Chef Restaurant in the 1950s and 1960s?
A: The restaurant, which was at 8315 E. Colfax Ave., was owned by H.G. and Jack Willner, officers of Chef Inc. Across the front of the diner- style restaurant in big letters was “Famous Chef, From a Sandwich to a Complete Meal.” The well-known sign had a caricature of a chef with the traditional hat.
In August 1953, a liquor license was acquired after nearly two years of complaints and counter-complaints, with the issue finally being resolved through the courts.
