Colorado Springs – Scott McCulloch earned a hat trick and then some to lead Colorado College to an 8-1 homecoming victory over Alabama-Huntsville at World Arena on Saturday.
McCulloch, a junior forward, scored at 5:09 of the first period in what proved to be the game-winner. But he wasn’t finished. McCulloch also scored twice in the second period and, midway through the third period, he scored his fourth goal.
Jake Gannon opened scoring with a short-handed goal for Colorado College (2-0) just 3:36 into the first quarter. Gannon intercepted a Huntsville pass in the Tigers’ defensive zone, then skated the distance in an odd-man rush for the goal.
The Tigers also got goals from Billy Sweatt, David Nimmo, Lee Sweatt and Scott Thauwald. Jimmy Kilpatrick’s two assists gave him four points on the year, tying McCulloch for the team lead.
Colorado College earned a 2-1 victory over Air Force at Cadet Ice Arena on Friday behind two goals from Kilpatrick.
