One man was fatally shot and another beaten to death in two separate homicides late Saturday and early Sunday.
About 12:35 a.m. Sunday police were called to the Valverde Yacht Club, a bar in the 1300 block of West Alameda Avenue on reports of a fight.
When they got there, they found the victim suffering from blunt force injuries as a result of being beaten by several people outside the bar, said Denver police Detective John White.
As he was leaving the bar, the man and his friends got into a fight with several other people, White said.
Police are looking for a black SUV, possibly a Ford Expedition or Excursion, that left the bar after the incident.
The victim, described as a man in his mid-40s, was taken to Denver Health Medical Center where he died from his injuries.
Police know the victim’s name but withheld it until they could notify his family.
About an hour earlier, police found a man shot to death outside an apartment at 3638 High Street.
Information about who might have shot him or a motive was not available.
The victim was 19 years old, but his name was not immediately known, White said.
