KEY BISCAYNE, Fla.-

A boater on Monday found the body of a man missing since a deadly collision on the water during South Florida’s annual Columbus Day regatta, officials said.

Authorities had been searching for James Noel, 23, who was aboard a boat when it was struck on Saturday night. His body was found near the crash scene, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman Jorge Pino said.

The crash near the Rickenbacker Causeway between Miami and Key Biscayne also killed Monica Burguera, 20, and injured seven others.

When the accident occurred, one boat was towing two other boats in a line, and Burguera and Noel were in the middle boat, Pino said. A fourth boat apparently came from behind, missed the last boat in the tow line and collided with the boat Burguera and Noel were aboard.

Burguera and Noel were both Puerto Rican natives living in Miami, officials said.

Hundreds of boaters were on the water during the regatta.
