OCOTILLO WELLS, Calif.-

A mild earthquake rocked a remote corner of northeastern San Diego County on Monday, but there were no reports of any damage, authorities said.

The 4.0 temblor struck at 1:26 p.m. and was centered in a state recreation area about eight miles northeast of the rural town of Ocotillo Wells, according to the California Integrated Seismic Network.

The quake was triggered by movement on the San Jacinto fault, which runs parallel to the San Andreas.
