Metro-Denver missed the snowstorm predicted for last night and early this morning.
Rain and drizzle this morning has the roads wet, causing commuters to drive slower than usual. Fog is a problem in some areas, but conditions generally remain safe.
The foothills and higher elevations, particularly Palmer Divide, received small amounts of snowfall through the night. But warming temperatures are expected to turn that into drizzle and rain.
Snow and icy conditions on Monarch Pass between Salida and Gunnison caused a semi-truck carrying 75 head of cattle to slide off the road and roll over around 9 p.m., Monday. The driver was not injured. State troopers called the scene “a real mess” and were unable to say how many cattle died. The road was re-opened early this morning.
Along the front range, daytime temperatures through the remainder of the week are expected to rise gradually into the 60s. Thursday night could go well below freezing, affecting some flower and vegetable gardens.
