Twenty-seven school districts are asking for one or both kinds of voter-approved funding on the Nov. 7 ballot. Bond issues pay for construction projects. Mill levy overrides cover operational costs. A mill levy override allows a school district to collect more taxes than current assessment formulas allow.

All enrollment figures are for the 2005-2006 school year.

Adams Brighton 27J

Enrollment: 10,450

Bonds: $89 million

Purpose: Adds two elementary schools, two middle schools, improve security features and air-conditioning.

Adams Commerce City 14

Enrollment: 6,868

Bonds: $78 million

Purpose: Add a high school-community college campus, air-conditioning for existing schools, expand elementary schools for all-day kindergarten, and upgrade science rooms and labs.

Mill-levy override: $458,000

Purpose: Construction of the Community Leadership Academy charter school

Adams Westminster 50

Enrollment: 10,755

Bonds: $98.6 million

Purpose: Build a high school, an elementary school, repair or remodel schools and other facilities.

Arapahoe Sheridan 2

Enrollment: 1,770

Bonds: $12.86 million

Purpose: Replace trailers and barracks with school wings, upgrade or provide heating and air-conditioning, add high school science labs, remodel elementary school cafeteria, remodel high school locker rooms.

Mill levy override: $1 million

Purpose: Salaries, staff and programs.

Baca Campos Re-6

Enrollment: 52

Mill-levy override: $150,000

Purpose: Maintain existing programs and teacher salaries.

Boulder-Broomfield Boulder Valley Re-2

Enrollment: 27,938

Bonds: $296.8 million

Purpose: To repair, improve or enlarge schools, administration space and grounds, as well as replace boilers, add classrooms, repair roofs and improve science facilities.

Douglas County Re-1

Enrollment: 48,043

Bonds: $200 million

Purpose: To build eight schools, renovate eight others, add a district stadium and other improvements.

Mill-levy override: $5 million

Purpose: To add literacy and language programs, as well as provide money to individual schools to use for curriculum.

Eagle County Re-50

Enrollment: 5,365

Bonds: $128 million

Purpose: Add a high school and elementary school, remodel existing high school for other uses, buy land for future schools, repair and upgrade facilities and improve technology throughout the district.

El Paso Lewis-Palmer 38

Enrollment: 5,843

Bonds: $57 million

Purpose: To build a second high school and to make improvements at existing Lewis-Palmer High School.

Mill-levy override: $2.362 million

Purpose: $2 million for operating cost at new high school, and $362,000 for operations at Monument Academy.

El Paso Manitou Springs 14

Enrollment: 1,355

Mill-levy override: $1 million

Purpose: Salaries and building maintenance.

Garfield Re-2

Enrollment: 4,024

Bonds: $74.9 million

Purpose: Upgrade existing schools.

Mill-levy override: $1.6 million

Purpose: Additional teachers and staff.

Garfield 16

Enrollment: 1,033

Bonds: $35 million

Purpose: Build a middle school, renovate existing buildings to relieve overcrowding and meet maintenance, transportation and storage needs.

Gilpin County Re-1

Enrollment: 362

Mill-levy override: $271,000

Purpose: Technology

East Grand County 2

Enrollment: 1,338

Mill-levy override: $600,000

Purpose: Transportation and technology needs.

West Grand County 1-JT

Enrollment: 512

Bonds: $11.5 million

Purpose: Build a pre-kindergarten through eighth grade school and repair the roof, electrical system, heating another high priority needs at the high school.

Larimer Park R-3

Enrollment: 1,265

Bonds: $22.4 million

Purpose: Additions and renovations at existing school sites.

Mill-levy override: $740,000

Purpose: Salaries, benefits and programs.

Larimer Thompson R-2J

Enrollment: 15,108

Mill-levy override: $4.15 million with a cap of $6.73 million

Purpose: To maintain existing staffing levels, staff and operate the new schools and additions.

Las Animas Primero Re-2

Enrollment: 240

Mill-levy override: $300,000

Purpose: Technology, programs, staff training and capital needs.

Lawrence Limon Public Schools M

Enrollment: 542

Mill-levy override: $250,000

Purpose: To ensure an adequate general fund balance.

Montezuma Mancos Re-6

Enrollment: 414

Mill-levy override: $57,800

Purpose: Continue an existing mill-levy override for transportation, technology and security.

Montezuma Cortez Re-1

Enrollment: 3,265

Mill-levy override: $1.58 million

Purpose: Curriculum and teacher pay raises.

Montrose West End Re-2

Enrollment: 318

Bonds: $248,000

Purpose: Salaries.

Routt Steamboat Springs Re-2

Enrollment: 1,979

Bonds: $29.7 million

Purpose: A new elementary school and renovations to the existing elementary school.

Mill-levy override: $600,000 up to $800,000

Purpose: Salary and benefit increases, housing assistance and training for teachers and staff.

San Miguel Telluride

Enrollment: 616

Mill-levy override: $408,000

Purpose: Pay raises for teachers and staff.

Weld Ault Highland Re-9

Enrollment: 833

Mill-levy override: $900,000

Purpose: Expand a middle school, renovate a playground and increase teachers’ salaries.

Weld Fort Lupton

Enrollment: 2,531

Mill levy override: $3.1 million

Purpose: Pay raises, textbooks and computers, and buses.

Weld Prairie

Enrollment: 158

Mill-levy override: $75,000

Purpose: Transportation fuel costs.
