The University of Denver men’s soccer team swept two Mountain Pacific Sports Federation league games during a road trip through California, defeating host Sacramento State 2-1 on the back end of the swing Sunday.
Denver (9-3-1, 5-0-0 MPSF) got a goal from Josh Fallin in the 36th minute on a header from a Colin Jones redirected free kick taken by Collin Audley. Then, in the 62nd minute, Greg Fiddick headed in a long throw-in from Jones for the game-winner. Denver downed San Jose State 1-0 on Thursday. Sacramento State fell to 5-9-0, 2-3-0.
* Fort Lewis (14-1-0, 10-0-0) clinched a third consecutive Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference title with a 1-0 victory over Colorado Christian (0-13-1, 0-9-0).
DU women extend soccer win streak to eight
The DU women’s soccer team won its eighth consecutive game with a 7-0 victory over Arkansas State in a Sun Belt Conference match.
It is the Pioneers’ (12-2-1, 8-0-0 Sun Belt) longest winning streak since 2002. Denver hosts co-Sun Belt leader Middle Tennessee on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
