Voters who wish to mull over this year’s lengthy ballot in the comfort of their homes have plenty of time to do so. Absentee ballots can be obtained by mail, if your request is received by Oct. 31. Applications can be obtained online, by phone or in person from county election offices.

Voters can pick up a ballot in person as late as Friday, Nov. 3, but must return it in person to ensure it is received by 7 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 7. Check your county election website for a list of designated drop-off sites. In Denver, the drop-off sites are the city’s six vote centers.

Most absentee ballots are two pages this year. Make sure to enclose both pages in the envelope and affix 87 cents in postage – not the 63 cents instructed by the Denver election office.

Early voting in person is conducted from Monday, Oct. 23, to Friday, Nov. 3. Check your county clerk’s website for locations.

About half of us are expected to vote on Election Day.
