Got hide? The Brighton Elks Lodge No. 1586 would like to help you dispose of it. The lodge is collecting hides from deer and elk to be tanned and distributed for recreational and occupational therapy through the Veterans Administration health-care system.
The program, which would make fingerless gloves for wheelchair users, among other uses,is part of a nationwide Elks program operating since 1948.
For information on proper care and donation of a hide, contact Brent Pick at 303-654-1562.
Hunt report card
In an effort to streamline its essential survey of big game hunting success, the Colorado Division of Wildlife has made reporting available online as well as by phone.
Some hunters will be asked to report by an automated touch-pad phone survey; others will be notified by e-mail and given the option to take the survey on the Internet. All may transfer to a live help-desk operator if they choose.
Such information gathering is critical to the agency in calculating harvest relative to maintaining a balance of game populations.
