Wyoming’s Jamie Nelson and Carolina Chaix and Colorado State’s Hilary Tyler recorded wins in the opening round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Regional in Salt Lake City and advanced to the singles main draw, which begins today.

Nelson defeated CSU’s Kirsten Stople 6-4, 2-6, 10-8, and Chaix beat CSU’s Greer Satherlie 2-6, 6-2, 10-6. Tyler defeated Cheyne Ursich of Montana 6-4, 6-1.

CSU 10th, CU 13th at New Mexico St. invite

The Colorado State and Colorado women’s golf teams made up little ground on the final day and finished 10th and 13th, respectively at the Price’s Give ‘Em Five Intercollegiate at New Mexico State’s golf course in Las Cruces.

The host Aggies won the team title with a 26-over-par 890, six strokes better than Baylor. CSU finished at 59-over 923. CU came in at 67-over 931.

Kasey Claussen was the Rams’ top finisher with a 10-over 226, good for a tie for 18th place. Freshman Dominique Pytlewski led the Buffs with a 15-over 231 and tied for 31st.
