Exhibits take an up-close look at Gen. Charles E. “Chuck” Yeager, who made the first super- sonic flight 59 years ago. Visitors can sit in the cockpit of the museum’s Mach 2 F-104 Starfighter, one of Yeager’s favorite aircraft, and watch videos of Yeager’s flights. Enter for a chance to meet Yeager and receive a signed model of the X-1. Yeager will be at the “Spreading Wings” gala Nov. 11, a fundraiser for the museum.
Day of the Dead at CU
– Wednesday-Nov. 11: Day of the Dead Altars Exhibit at the CU Museum of Natural History;
– 4:30-6:30 p.m. Friday: “Dia de los Muertos: Signs and Symbols” art exhibit opening reception at the UMC Gallery;
– 2 p.m. Saturday 2 p.m.: “Ancestral Pathways: Mexico Skies and American Earth” lecture by Enrique Maestas accompanied by Danza Azteca Tlaloc on cosmology of the Aztecs at Fiske Planetarium; $10 for adults, $7 for those 12 and under or 65 and older.
– 7 p.m. Saturday : “No Para Siempre (Not forever),” traditional Mexican regional music and dance performed for the Day of the Dead, 7 p.m., Fiske Planetarium.
– 6 p.m. Nov. 2: Day of the Dead Celebration, including authentic Mexican food, 6 p.m. CU Museum of Natural History.
