Why are you running? As the incumbent senator, I am aware of the concerns of the constituents in the district and I want to continue to work to assist the constituents.
What are the top three challenges facing Colorado?
1. Affordable, accessible quality health care for all the citizens of the state.
2. Economic development and full funding for higher education.
What is your top priority in the next session if you should win? Affordable, accessible quality health care, lowering the cost of insurance premiums, which also helps small businesses that provide the benefit for their employees.
What proposal in the last session did you oppose the most? The one I oppose most, without exempting bars, private clubs, bingo parlors and other gaming establishments, is the Clean Indoor Air bill which prohibits smoking indoors. Government should not mandate rules to small businesses. The free market will drive the elimination of smoking in private establishments.
What proposal in the last session did you agree with the most? House bill 06 1411, which prohibits municipalities from declaring private property blighted for economic purposes. I am a strong proponent of protecting private property.
