How long have you lived in Colorado? Where did you live before? I have lived in Colorado nearly my entire life, 53 years. I was born in Chicago and only lived there the first year of my life.

Last book read: “The Secret Life of Bees.”

Major endorsements: Colorado Conservation Voters; AFL-CIO; SEIU/CAPE; Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry (CACI); the Colorado Medical Society.

Why are you running? After four years as a State Senator, I find that I really do love having a role in setting public policy. I like people and I like having the ability to help with problems that require a legislative solution.

What are the top three challenges facing Colorado or the institution you seek to represent?

1. I would still have to say our number one challenge is the economy in Colorado, despite our 5-year time out from the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights.

2. Our next challenge is having our infastructure keep pace with growth.

3. Finally, our overarching challenge is to maintain the quality of life in Colorado our citizens have come to expect.

What is your top priority in the next session if you should win? My top priority remains to sponsor and support good public policy that improves the lives of all Colorado citizens for generations to come.

What proposal in the last session did you oppose the most? I did not have a particular bill that I “opposed the most.”

What proposal in the last session did you agree with the most? I agreed with the negotiated PERA legislation that was passed and signed into law.
