An woman in her early- to mid-20s was shot to death in rural Brighton this morning. The Adams County Sheriff’s Office got the call at 9:15 a.m.
A suspect is in custody, and a weapon was recovered. Names of the victim and suspect were not released.
There are witnesses to the incident, but Sgt. Louis Dixon of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office could not say how many, or who phoned in the tip. He described the shooting as an “isolated incident” and said the community should not be worried.
“Some type of argument took place,” Dixon said. “We don’t know how that fits in at this point.”
The investigation into the shooting is continuing.
