Office and district sought: Director, RTD Board, District N
Name: Bruce Daly
E-mail: 6cdaly@msn.com
Age: 64
Last degree earned: None
Occupation: Retired RTD operator
Hobbies: Reading, hiking and travel
Family: Married; three children; seven grandchildren.
How long have you lived in Colorado? Where did you live before? 33 years; Connecticut, 3 years. Born and raised in the U.K. until age 26.
Last book read: “The Civil War,” by Shelby Foote.
Civic Involvement: Local politics, and work at the Colorado Senate.
Major endorsements: Amalgamated Transit Union; Denver Area Labor Federation
Why are you running? I feel, as a retired driver, I could be of help to the other directors in the field of operations and labor relations.
What are the top three challenges facing Colorado or the institution you seek to represent? Left blank.
What do you see your role will be in completing RTD’s $4.7 billion FasTracks transit expansion on time and within budget? I would work hard to avoid another breakdown in labor relations as witnessed earlier this year that saw a transit work stoppage. I would support the most responsive contractors, not necessarily the lowest bidder.
What other goals do you have for RTD? I drove for the Call-n-Ride service in Evergreen for two years and would seek to expand this popular service, where needed, within District N.
