A final decision on a proposed license pilot program for Game Management Unit 63 will highlight a Nov. 8-9 meeting of the Colorado Wildlife Commission in Colorado Springs.
The plan would allocate 15 additional landowner preference licenses for deer in the unit generally south of Hotchkiss, along with a matching number for public hunters. The adjustment would take place during fourth season, 2007. Other items of discussion include auction and raffle of big-game licenses and turkey hunting regulations.
The meeting begins at 8 a.m. at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort Conference Center, 3225 Broadmoor Valley Road.
CWD testing available
The Division of Wildlife will do free chronic wasting disease testing at two stations in Burlington through Monday.
Designed to give the agency a sampling of possible spread of the disease in the area, the head collection will be in effect 7 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Burlington Livestock Exchange on the west end of town. Hunters also can deposit head samples at the Burlington Locker, 553 14th St. The blue CWD tag on the lower panel of a license should be deposited along with the sample.
