How long have you lived in Colorado? Where did you live before? We have lived here 42 years. We lived in Georgia before moving here, as my husband was stationed there while he was in the Air Force. I was born in New Orleans.

Last book read: “Miss America By Day,” by Marilyn Van Derbur. It is an excellent lesson in the damage which childhood sexual abuse has, and a hopeful lesson in this woman’s remarkable recovery.

Why are you running? Re-election will help me to continue lowering the costs of health care, improving education and advocating for neighborhoods’ safety and quality of life.

What are the top three challenges facing Colorado or the institution you seek to represent?

We need to make health care affordable and accessible for every Coloradan.

We need to improve the quality of our education.

We need to insure safety and quality of life in our homes and neighborhoods.

What is your top priority in the next session if you should win? My top priority is to work for the safety and well-being of our families and neighborhoods through health care, education and a focus on children.

What proposal in the last session did you oppose the most? I most opposed removal of the “window” of opportunity for childhood survivors of rape to sue their attackers and those who helped these pedophiles.

What proposal in the last session did you agree with the most? I most agreed with the proposal to establish the window of opportunity for childhood survivors of rape, because it would protect children today. Expert testimony stated that most survivors of childhood rape cannot begin to deal with the trauma until they are in their 40s. Meanwhile, pedophiles continue raping children. The only way we can really stop the rape of children today by those trusted in the home, school or church is to allow past victims to bring civil suit.
