RTD has loaded on its website bus and train timetables for the start of regular southeast light-rail service Nov. 19.
On Nov. 17 and 18, the Regional Transportation District will offer free rides on the new 19-mile, $880 million line.
RTD is discontinuing many express and regional bus routes from the southeast metro area to the I-25/Broadway station and downtown Denver and replacing them with local “circulator” bus service that will require riders to transfer to southeast light-rail trains.
Some express-bus users have been concerned that the transfer between bus and trains will leave them on platforms too long, slowing their commutes.
The schedules show that some buses feeding the Nine Mile train station at Interstate 225 and South Parker Road are timed to deliver rush-hour riders for the transfer to light rail four or five minutes before the departure of trains for downtown Denver.
The transit district will discontinue at least seven express bus routes and replace them with feeder service to Nine Mile.
RTD also is replacing regional routes like the P from Franktown and Parker to I-25/Broadway with bus service to the Lincoln Avenue station near C-470 and I-25.
Riders can find the new bus and train timetables at rtd-denver.com.
