Wesley Snipes has reached a settlement with the Internal Revenue Service over his Oct. 17 indictment on tax fraud charges. Daily Variety reports Snipes will surrender to federal authorities when he returns to the U.S. after shooting in Namibia for his horror flick “Gallowwalker” ends in December. Snipes was indicted on charges of falsely claiming nearly $12 million in tax refunds in 1996 and 1997. The agreement states Snipes will follow a payment plan to reimburse the IRS, will not be jailed and will be allowed to continue working and travel abroad.
Abbie Cornish, the Australian actress accused of breaking up the marriage of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe, has denied the allegations. Cornish’s publicist told Us magazine a report by the National Enquirer that Witherspoon discovered romantic messages from Cornish on Phillippe’s BlackBerry is “not true. They are co-stars (on the film “Stop Loss”), and that is it.” Us quoted a witness who saw a woman fitting “Cornish’s description” kissing Phillippe at a sushi restaurant in the Texas capital. Lauren Scott told the magazine: “I was pretty shocked that he would blatantly cheat on Reese in public.”
The Madonna baby adoption saga won’t go away. The singer, in one of her many “exclusive” interviews told “Dateline NBC” she “wouldn’t rule (adopting another baby) out … but I would like to experience David for a while and see how it works out.” A BBC “Newsnight” report claims the Malawian father abandoned his son to start a new life with another woman. And Madonna denied Yohane Banda’s claims he and a grandmother visited David regularly. “I never met a granny and I was told that from the day that he was left in the orphanage he was not visited by any extended-family members, and that’s really why I became interested in him,” she told “Newsnight.”
Sharon Stone is no Barbie doll, and last week she proved it. Stone agreed to be honored at an Oct. 28 benefit in Santa Monica, Calif., where a custom Barbie doll Mattel made in her image was to be auctioned. The New York Post reported Stone flipped when the doll looked nothing like her and refused to attend the children’s AIDS event. Stone’s rep, Cindi Berger, said, “That is absolutely correct. (Stone) was never committed to going.”
Nicole Kidman has canceled plans to attend two premieres of her new movie, “Fur,” the Sun reported. Kidman is staying by husband Keith Urban’s side as he continues alcohol rehab in a Tennessee facility, the London tabloid wrote. The country singer canceled an appearance at Monday night’s Country Music Awards ceremony several days ago.
Daniel Craig, who has insisted in past interviews he was a big fan of the James Bond film series, admitted to GQ magazine he has not seen an 007 film since 1973. Craig, the newest Bond in the upcoming remake, “Casino Royale,” said his dad took him to see his only 007 flick when he was 5. “The first Bond film I went to see was ‘Live and Let Die.’ The last time I paid to see a Bond film would be 1973! Except no, my dad paid.”
Robert De Niro and 50 Cent, according to the Hollywood Reporter, will star in a new police thriller called “New Orleans.” The movie centers on a cop who thinks his partner has died in Hurricane Katrina, only to discover that he was shot and killed. Filming tentatively is slated to start in New Orleans in February.
Julio Iglesias’ longtime girlfriend Miranda Rijnsburger is pregnant, the singer’s rep told People magazine. It will be the fifth child for Iglesias, 63, and Rijnsburger, 41. Iglesias also has three adult children from his marriage to Isabel Preysler.
